Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative including angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in influence within the city.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The third episode finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of heroes who will split off from the main group to begin their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team includes Teor (brought to life by the voice actor), the agile character (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Prelude, intertwining the individual narratives before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
According to the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
First, the party understands precisely where to go next after a intense opening clash with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose death initiated the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The antagonist then settled his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each member has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires vengeance.
- The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and cautions that it is a hostile place.
- Tyranny and The healer, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as key figures in House Halovar could help the group reach places they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character swore a life debt to The savior for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern the setting for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and The cleric defied House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The target is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This results in them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.
What’s Next?
According to the latest episode’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight players to assemble the Explorers and Planners parties.
Fans can expect learning which players will be in which group in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, released on next week.
